About Dr James Bough

James qualified from Newcastle University with Merit in Clinical Dentistry in 2007 and was awarded the John Hopkins prize for his support for fellow colleagues. James has undergone and continues to undergo extensive postgraduate training and education in several countries, with world leaders in their field.

James has completed dental implant courses at the Sheffield Implant Centre, Newcastle Dental Hospital and at the Campbell Academy in Nottingham. To compliment this training, James has travelled to the highly respected “Urban Regeneration Institute” in Budapest, to undertake advanced training in bone and soft tissue regeneration. James has also travelled to Munich to train at the world renowned Hurzeler and Zuhr Dental Education Institute.  As part of this training, James underwent training on microsurgical techniques for soft tissue treatment and regeneration.

 

“In order to get the best results in dental implant treatment, it is managing the bone and soft tissues that are the most important. This is why I have travelled so extensively to learn advanced techniques for bone and soft tissue management”.

 

James completed the two year Diploma in Restorative Dentistry, which provides the skills and knowledge for advanced treatments for the most complex of cases.

 

“Restorative treatment and its principles provides the foundation for all treatments, ranging from simple to complex and is essential for providing successful treatment”.

 

Dentists regularly refer patients to James for dental implant and restorative treatments.

 

James has also completed the Core Course in Conscious Sedation at Newcastle Dental Hospital, the Inman Aligner course and Six Months Smile course and will provide orthodontic treatment with clear aligners.

 

In addition to dental qualifications, James has also carried out a number of facial aesthetic courses in order to provide treatments such as ‘wrinkle relaxing injections’, ‘dermal fillers’ and ‘Genuine Dermaroller therapy’ and is able to provide personalised advice and treatment plans for skin therapy.

 

James is a member of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK), The Royal College of Surgeons and the North East Private Dentist group.

 

James is Treasurer of the North East Private Dentists group and heavily involved in arranging post graduate courses in the North East.

 

James has previously held an Honorary Clinical Lecturer position at the Newcastle Dental Hospital and previously lectured to dentists on behalf of the Northern Deanery (the Postgraduate Institute for Dentists).

 

James lives in Tynemouth with his wife Lindsay and two children and enjoys keeping fit and healthy, with many outdoor hobbies, particularly as the beach is on the doorstep! He is passionate about skiing, keeping fit, food and travelling to visit new places…….when he gets the chance!

Dr James Bough’s preventative ethos is apparent through all the care and services which he offers and this continues through to the facial aesthetic services which he carries out to ensure that each patient receives the highest standard of cosmetic care.
